Summer is finally upon us and what better time to explore the best campervan destinations for you to take your Free Spirit Campervan!
With the long days and good weather, Summer is an absolutely fantastic time of the year to head out on the road and explore our beautiful country.
The great thing about the United Kingdom is the fact that we have easy access by road to some of the most stunning places on the planet, as well as some of the most fascinating historical locations too.
In this blog, we are going to recommend what we think are the best campervan destinations in the UK for summer 2022. A few of which you might already know, but we hope you discover somewhere new to add to your travel bucket list this year!
Cornwall –
Of course, what destination list is complete without a mention of the classic Cornish coast?
Famed for its beaches as well as being an ideal location for a whole host of water sports, the surfing capital of the South West (and possibly the whole country) has something for the whole family and has been a favourite for campervan enthusiasts for many years.

Budle Bay, Northumberland –
A departure from the busy streets of St. Ives, Budle Bay in Northumberland provides a serene spot for nature lovers and history buffs alike to spend a relaxed few days away in their campervans.
With stunning views across the sand dunes, the imposing Bamburgh Castle on the coast, and a wide variety of bird species to observe, this is a wonderful place to spend a few days away from the hustle and bustle.

The Lake District, Cumbria –
Another classic destination, the Lake District has long been home to poets and writers, who flocked there to find inspiration and solitude amongst the peaks that dominate the skyline above the pristine and vast bodies of water.
Now the lakes are perfect to visit as part of a campervan trip, with a variety of campsites offering campervan hookups, as well as there being areas for wild camping.
Hop out for a sail around one of the famous lakes, or maybe test your mettle hiking up one of the many peaks.

Northern Ireland –
Arriving by ferry from the mainland, Northern Ireland has a vast amount of destinations. The beauty of travelling in one of our bespoke campervan conversions, like the Mazda Bongo camper, is that you can easily navigate through city centres just like you would in a car.
Fantasy lovers will be drawn to the picturesque surroundings and might just recognise a few places from the filming of HBO’s Game of Thrones, which made use of the renowned Northern Irish landscape in the show.
In fact, there’s even a map you can follow to explore one of the most interesting campervanning routes in the UK!

Isle of Skye, Scotland –
Last, but certainly not least, the Isle of Skye boasts some of the most striking scenery found in the UK, making it one of the best campervan destinations in the UK.
One of the best parts about campervanning in Scotland is the ability to wild camp, meaning you can drive out of town, find a stunning spot in nature, and park up for the night! Of course, make sure to check local restrictions.
The Isle of Skye is perfect for exploring in a campervan, as you can travel to any of the many sites of interest like the Fairy Pools, or the Old Man of Storr, and camp out for the night under the stars. Truly, an unforgettable experience!
